This unusual criss-cross style contemporary floral valance is a simple yet elegant way to top off the three windows in our clients master bedroom. We used a solid contrast welt to outline the design and used the same solid on the reverse for the jabots. This soft board mounted valance provides a tailored look. In addition, we fabricated a quilted bedspread with a standard pillow tuck and gusset corners using the same contemporary floral fabric from Carole Fabrics. To complete the look, we reupholstered her headboard in a contemporary fabric from Stout Fabrics.
This tailored bay window valance (click to enlarge for best view) complements the client’s decorative painted gray walls and cream colored tub and tile. The yellow and cream in the fabric brightens up the room and provides the client with an opportunity to add these colors in towels, rugs, and accessories. We chose an Ikat pattern from Fabricut and added a 2″ band in a solid gray to give the design detail on the hem. A small welt at the top of the valance provides a clean line. And, to make it easy to take down for dry cleaning when needed we added Velcro to the tacking strip. The client can easily pull the valance off and reinstall on her own without the help of an installer. Her comment……”I love the look!”
We strive for happy clients. Interior Design by Terry Kral, Allied, ASID.
